So it turns out puppies don’t only know about the benefits of online scheduling in long-term care – they also know a lot about helping seniors when they need it most. (If you're wondering what I'm talking about when I say puppies and scheduling in the same sentence, check out the adorable video below.) Dogs, cats and other furry friends who participate in animal assisted therapy have changed senior care and improved quality of life.
According to a recent McKnight’s article, a new study shows that animal therapy can reduce the need for post-surgery pain medication. Researchers with Loyola University Chicago Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing and Loyola University Health System found that when patients were recovering from total joint replacement surgery, the “animal-human connection is powerful in reducing stress and in generating a sense of well-being.” Patients who participated in the study reduced their intake of pain medication by about 28%, and they likely have puppies to thank for that!
I guess the moral of this story is that a little bit of puppy love goes a long way. And if you’re curious about what puppies do know about online scheduling, check out our recent whitepaper to see why you should get off paper when it comes to employee scheduling. Even dogs know that paper scheduling is a thing of the past!
