I was 7 years old when I finally got the courage to ask Christine to be my Valentine. I had the BIGGEST crush on her! She was the girl next door - funny, pretty and most importantly she talked to me. I was so head-over-heals that I “pretended” to like what she liked just to hang out – so yes...I owned a few My Little Pony toys.
As V-Day approached I needed to figure out a way to ask “Will you be my Valentine?” but I was terrified of rejection. Asking her to circle Yes or No seemed a little played out. I needed something bigger.
That Saturday I saw her cut through my yard to go to the park with her friend. That was my chance – she would soon be walking back through our yard. So I recruited my friends to help tape individual pieces of paper to the side of my garage that spelled out "CHRISTINE WILL YOU BE MY VALENTINE? FROM MIKE." (Even though it was my garage, I wanted to make sure she knew it was me).
With the plan in motion, and me terrified to see her reaction, I left and played a game of football with my buddies. I just hoped to have an answer waiting for me when I got home.
This same concept is used by OnShift when you are trying to fill an open shift. With the click of a mouse, you can quickly ask all qualified and available employees if they are able to work.
And chances are you will get the same answer I did – yes!
