LEADing The Way: Introducing Argentum's New Leadership Development Program

July 6, 2020 | James Balda

LEADing the Way Introducing Argentums New Leadership Development ProgramIn this summer of COVID-19, it’s hard to think past the end of the week, much less into next year and beyond. But in the midst of all we’ve gone through, there are moments when I appreciate that this moment in time shall pass.

I really felt that this June when we announced the inaugural cohort for LEAD, Argentum’s leadership development program. I formally welcomed all 27 of these leaders—via a Zoom meeting, of course—and am incredibly impressed at their backgrounds, their enthusiasm, and their thirst to succeed in senior living executive management

Equally impressive has been the reaction of the 14 companies that have sponsored LEAD participants. It’s no secret that budgets are tight, plans are 180 degrees from the start of the year, and everyone has to do more with less. Yet these providers chose to support their up-and-coming leaders fully and without reservation.

Just as our members have upended their strategic plans, we, too, have adjusted the LEAD program for our new environment. Instead of meeting in person, the cohort will meet virtually, with “salon sessions” on management and the senior living industry, along with group projects related to COVID-19. The group will finally meet in person at the 2021 Senior Living Executive Conference next spring, where they also will have access to a one-day "Disney's Approach to Leadership Excellence" program delivered by the Disney Institute.

I couldn’t be prouder of senior living. Even if it can feel hard to see it right now, our future really is bright.
