New Data & Trends To Know in The Next Issue of Senior Living Executive

August 1, 2016 | James Balda

New data and trends to know senior livingIt’s an exciting time of year around the Argentum offices. We’ve been hard at work on our upcoming issue of Senior Living Executive, which is a personal favorite of mine every year.

Our researchers have spent the last few months compiling one of the most-anticipated lists in the senior living industry: our annual ranking of the largest senior living providers. This popular issue, published in September/October, will feature expanded coverage on those senior living providers who top the list.

In this issue we’ll also report some industry metrics such as operational and licensed resident capacities, number of employees, number of properties, and mergers and acquisitions. Providers who want to keep a finger on the pulse of the senior living industry will want to pay particular attention to this data.

Something that I really look forward to is sharing thoughts from top executives on the current senior living landscape and the future of the industry. After talking with these leaders, we identified some recurrent themes regarding the future of senior living. First, resident expectations are increasing. As baby boomers start to fill senior living communities this trend is sure to continue.

The second trend is that workforce challenges are inspiring operators to innovate. Readers can anticipate an article from OnShift CEO Mark Woodka. The article will cover a very timely topic: how to manage labor costs in the face of rising wage pressures and the workforce shortage. Woodka provides practical advice and strategies to off-set these challenges with practices to control costly overtime and more effectively manage employees shift by shift to reduce costs.

The issue will also take a deeper look at how the industry is maturing and where to expect growth and innovation. Additionally, readers will find data from the Centers for Disease Control’s long-term care division survey, which indicates that residential care now serves 835,200 people.

Argentum strives to provide the latest news in senior living with a focus on issues and topics related to workforce development, quality improvement, operational excellence, consumer choice, and memory care in each edition of our magazine. We hope you find it valuable. As we work with and get feedback from senior living providers, we’ll continue to evolve to meet your needs.
