We know the senior living industry needs to recruit 1.2 million new employees by 2025 to properly care for and serve the swelling population of seniors. One way we can work toward meeting that goal is to identify the next generation of leadership in senior living—those who will champion quality initiatives and meaningful programs to advance the industry. Strong leadership is needed across the industry to share the message that senior living can provide the career of a lifetime—one that not only offers opportunity for professional development, but also personal growth and a purposeful mission.
Argentum’s new recognition program this year, Senior Living Leaders Under 40, identifies some of the emerging visionaries in the industry who are models of success; from one who started a nonprofit to combat Alzheimer’s disease to another who was recently awarded a national grant for a wellness initiative, these individuals represent the next wave of thought leaders who will guide the industry. You can read more about the professionals selected as 2017 Senior Living Leaders Under 40 in The Leadership Issue of Senior Living Executive.
At Argentum, we continue forge ahead, committing to research and programs associated with our workforce development imperative. Our next issue of Argentum Quarterly, a new member publication, will feature an analysis of research on how age groups and generational cohorts perceive working in senior living. Later this year, on September 14, we will host the next Workforce Development Symposium in Washington, D.C. focused on recruitment, retention, and development. Event details will be shared at argentum.org/symposia as they develop. We also look forward to introducing the next class of Certified Directors of Assisted Living (CDALs) who are establishing their dedication to the industry with the credential.
