The mood of the American Health Care Association’s annual meeting was unlike years past. At the keynote address, AHCA President and CEO Mark Parkinson proclaimed that massive cuts to Medicare and Medicaid have providers “fighting for their survival.” This was a much different tone than years past where a 1 or 2 percent change in funding was the main topic of conversation.
