[VIDEO] What Are Caregivers Thankful For This Year?

This year, we did things a little differently. Rather than have one our bloggers do the talking in our annual Thanksgiving post, we wanted to get the perspective of some of the hardest working, most compassionate people in long-term care and senior living: caregivers. So we set out around northeast Ohio to ask them one simple question: what are you thankful for this year? And when we did, we noticed a common theme. While caregivers are thankful for family, health and the like, each person we spoke to couldn't help but gush about how much they love their job - specifically caring for and forming special relationships with residents.

Dana, a nursing assistant at O'Neill Healthcare, talks about how she recently made a career move from retail. She says, "Being in retail, you have contact with people on a day-to-day basis, but my contact with residents impacts them on more personal level. A smile in retail is a good thing, but a smile to the residents here means a thousand times more."
