As of this week, 16 million Americans have lost their jobs due to the coronavirus pandemic. And that number will likely continue to grow. I can't imagine how feels to be unemployed during this time of uncertainty and my heart goes out to all of those affected. The silver lining to the situation is that senior care providers can step in and help. The industry, which previously faced a workforce shortage and a historically low unemployment rate, has an opportunity to recruit these displaced workers and offer something that other essential businesses, such as grocery stores and carry-out restaurants, can't -- extremely rewarding and necessary work. However, it will take a grassroots approach to successfully attract this newly created pool of talent.
