With so many examples of excellence all around us, it’s sometimes hard for me to believe it’s so difficult to recruit and retain workers to join our industry. But statistics don’t lie: just one in three people surveyed say they would consider a career in senior living.
I’ve written before about Senior Living Works, Argentum’s initiative to grow the senior living workforce. A key part of our program is to mobilize our own great workers to be Senior Living Works Ambassadors, who take on the role of connecting with schools, talking about our careers, and sharing our enthusiasm and joy about our “Careers in Caring.” Since we launched Senior Living Works at the Senior Living Executive Conference in May, 396 of you have signed on as Ambassadors, and the number keeps growing every day.
Our Ambassadors have access to a wealth of resources to talk about senior living careers and to make meaningful connections with education providers. We also hold a monthly webinar series. This month’s webinar, on connecting with high schools, technical schools, and youth programs, was our most attended to-date, and highlighted tips you can use to build your own outstanding partnerships.
Just think, if each of our communities had one ambassador, and each ambassador reached 100 students about our careers, tens of thousands of young people would see positive examples of the best in our industry. And you can bet they’d be far more likely to consider our careers. To find out more, visit seniorliving.works, email us at seniorlivingworks@argentum.org, or follow us on Twitter at @SrLivingWorks.
