It’s Thanksgiving & I’m Thankful For Senior Care

Written by Mark Woodka | Nov 22, 2016 9:45:41 PM

Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. It is not commercial and artificial; it is a time to reflect on our lives, friends, loved ones and others that influence our lives and be thankful for all that we have. To gather with friends and family and take a moment to relax and enjoy each other’s company.

I personally have much to be thankful for. I have a loving wife and family who fully supports my crazy work life because they know I am passionate about building a great company and helping the senior care industry address significant workforce challenges. I am fortunate to lead a great team of passionate, dedicated individuals that strive to build and support great software to help our clients manage the complexities of staffing their facilities and communities. Our hope is that we are helping alleviate what can be a difficult and time consuming process to enable you to spend more time caring for your residents and allowing your employees to have better work life balance.

But what I am most thankful for at this point in my life is the great people that work in our skilled nursing and senior living communities taking care of our nation’s seniors. My mom moved into a senior living community in 2014, one that is 700 miles away from where I live. The team at Brookdale Stevens Point do an outstanding job taking great care of my mom. They are engaged and always supportive and helpful. It allows me to sleep better at night knowing that I don’t have to worry about my mom and if she is being properly cared for. I know that my story can be repeated by thousands if not hundreds of thousands of adult children of seniors across America. So I am thankful for each and every person that dedicates their time and career to caring for our seniors. Your impact radiates out from the individuals you care for to their families, friends and the overall community. Thank you. I hope you too get to enjoy the holiday and take time to be thankful.

I encourage everyone to take a moment and give thanks to a caregiver this holiday season.
