Celebrate Careers In Aging

Written by James Balda | Mar 1, 2019 3:10:21 PM

Those of us in senior living know how dynamic and rewarding our careers are. Not many industries can match the breadth of our occupations. Whether it’s caregiving and nursing, hospitality, sales and marketing, building maintenance, business and finance, or management, just about anyone can thrive in senior living.

But ask someone who hasn’t worked in senior living, and they usually have no idea of our career opportunities. In fact, in an Argentum survey on public perception, just one in three people would consider a senior living career. If we’re going to attract more people into senior living, we’ll need to do more to tell our story—and to do it loudly and proudly.

Enter Careers in Aging Week, the perfect opportunity to raise awareness as part of a social media campaign. The week of March 3-9, everyone in our field can speak with one voice about our careers. There are some easy ways we all can take part.

First off, mark your calendar and take a selfie! Sure, it’s just one small step, but when you show your enthusiasm for senior living, and share it on social media, you’ll be joining with hundreds or thousands of others who are doing the same. The more we act together—the more we follow the same script—the more buzz we can create about our careers. Make sure to use hashtag #careersinaging19.

To build even more visibility, you can download web banners highlighting Careers in Aging Week. Place one on your website or blog.

Our new Education Pipeline makes it easier than ever to find education programs in your area.

Argentum has been proud to partner with LeadingAge, the National Center for Assisted Living, and the Gerontological Society of America to co-produce this week of celebration and awareness. Will you join us?
