Let Us Give Thanks For Friends, Family & Caregivers Everywhere

November 20, 2018 | Johanna Ameche

Thankful for caregiversYear after year, the holiday season seems to sneak up on me so quickly, but when I stop to think about the past year, I have so many great memories and so much to be thankful for.

As I reflect on this year, I remember my grandmother who is no longer with us. It’s our first Thanksgiving without her, but I carry so many happy memories of her with me every day. My mother’s mom, Grandma Irene, spent the last eight years of her life in a skilled nursing community and ten years prior to that in an assisted living community. The care staff worked tirelessly around the clock and on holidays, sacrificing time with their family, so they can in turn provide quality care for others’ loved ones. She was so well taken care of and I’m grateful for the nurses and caregivers who treated her like family – and also took care of my family during our time of need.

Let us give thanks for caregivers

Also, over this past year, I joined the Marketing team here at OnShift. I’m thankful for my new “work family” and happy to be spending five days a week with people who are as passionate and driven as I am to achieve our goals. I’m looking forward to growing with OnShift and excited to see what the new year has in store.

[My grandma] was so well taken care of and I’m grateful for the nurses and caregivers who treated her like family – and also took care of my family during our time of need."

Lastly, I’m extremely thankful for a beautiful and healthy family. I have two energetic little kids, Cameron and Kinley, who occupy the rest of my time when I’m not working. While they certainly test my patience from time to time, they also make me laugh harder than I ever thought I could, and I can’t imagine life without them. My husband, Brett, and I also celebrated our 6th anniversary this year. We had the opportunity to travel to Turks and Caicos where we spent a week relaxing and enjoying great food, drinks and not to mention the most beautiful beach in the world.

Happy Thanksgiving from OnShift

I’m going to sit down to Thanksgiving dinner with a full heart (and a full plate) and appreciate all the friends and family I am surrounded by each day. I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving and hope this next year moves a little bit slower than the last!
